The training titled «The first steps in entrepreneurship” was held in Boysun district of Surkhandarya region on April 14-15,2011. More than 30 women and young girls participated at the sessions and received training in how to set up a business, registration issues, where to turn for help, how to find capital, taxation, marketing, networking, and the basics of forming a cluster. The Deputy Khokim of Boysun Saodat Jurakulova welcomed the participants and the project experts’ team and stressed that the objectives of the project are in line with the Uzbek government policy for promoting small businesses and private entrepreneurship and that women’s entrepreneurship development makes a considerable part in this policy.
On March 24th and 25th the Centre for Women’s Social and Economic Support hosted their first training on how to set up a business, where to turn for help, how to find capital, taxation, marketing, networking, and the basics of forming a cluster. Thirty women from the ages of 20-50 with varying degrees of experience participated in the training and were coached on the methodology of forming clusters. Best practices from clusters created in European countries in order to mitigate some of the challenges micro and small businesses face in securing financing, competing with large firms, maintaining a technological edge, marketing their products etc. have been presented.
Study Visit of Uzbek partners to Greece - October 2010 Within the framework of the project "Support of women and youth entrepreneurship in remote districts of Uzbekistan" co-financed by the European Commission's Institutional Building Partnership Programme, a study visit to Greece for the Uzbek partners took place in October 2010.
During their visit, the partners had the opportunity to meet representatives from the Hellenic Organisation of Small and Medium Enterprises and Handicrafts (EOMMEX), the General Secretariat for Gender Equality, the Research Centre for Gender Equality, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EVEA) and the Greek National Chamber Network of Women Entrepreneurs. They also visited the Women's Agricultural Cooperatives of Nea Kios and Leonidion and a partner meeting was held in the offices of the Hellenic Management Association (ELESMA).
All the meetings and visits ended with the expression of interest from all parties to maintain contact and possibly collaborate for the proposal and implementation of an EU funded project in the future.

“Business clusters and business angels” training in Termez, Jizzak and Tashkent In the framework of the project “Support of women and youth entrepreneurship in remote districts of Uzbekistan”, training sessions were contacted in Termez on June 25th and 26th by international business support experts from the Centre for Business and Technological Development and the Hellenic Management Association in Greece. Sixteen trainers from the region gathered at a local conference centre to participate in the training. The topics presented were business clusters and Business angels. In Tashkent on June 30 – July 1, 25 more trainers from Jizzak and Tashkent participated in a similar training programme. The participants discussed the challenges faced at the start of business ventures, ways of effective use of funds, marketing and management issues in small business development. The SWOT analysis of the clustering perspectives revealed the areas for creating business synergies in Uzbekistan. Field visits to small business enterprises, such as souvenir and handicrafts shops, hair-dressing salons and tailoring shops resulted in the identification of the training needs analysis for the next training courses within the framework of the project.
